The last couple of weeks have been important to Year 10 pupils up and down the country as they carry out their work experience at local companies and businesses to get a taste of the world after school. Hambleside Merchandise is part of the Work Experience (WEX) database. This database was designed to ensure all young people are allocated an appropriate placement and to assist professionals who co-ordinate work experience.
15 year old Lauren Gillingham joined Hambleside this week from Horndean Technology College. Horndean Technology College is a long-term customer of Hambleside, so it has been a great opportunity to strengthen our relationship with them and show support for our local community.
Hambleside was Lauren’s top choice out of the four companies she applied to and she was pleased to have been selected after her interview. She chose Hambleside because she is interested in following a career in marketing and we would give her a good insight into how companies market themselves through promotional merchandise. Lauren’s interest in marketing was sparked when she took part in a competition at school where she had to work as part of a team to create and promote a new healthy drink. Her team made it through the regional finals and to the nationals where she was up against 11 other schools.
Lauren is very musical. She plays the piano and the guitar and loves all kind of music. She has really enjoyed her week at Hambleside. She said, “It has been a great insight into how things are run in an office and how sales and marketing work.” She takes home with her some newly acquired administration and PC skills and a Hambleside Merchandise goody bag!
