Hambleside sponsorship adds up to success

On Friday 19 April, parents, governors and local employers – including Hambleside Merchandise gathered at South Downs College for the annual Awards Evening to celebrate the achievements of students. Awards were received for excellent examination results, outstanding performance in work placements and impressive determination to succeed. The close link that South Downs College has with a large number of local employers is hugely beneficial as the companies offer a wide range of work experience opportunities for students, enhancing CVs and helping them to progress on completion of their courses. Hambleside Merchandise has been sponsoring the maths award for the last couple of years. It is our way of putting something back into local colleges as part of our community investment strategy. This year, Holly Butcher won the maths award. As she handed the award over, the Principle said, “Holly joined us from Springfield School and followed a diverse A Level programme of Mathematics, Further Mathematics, English Literature and History. She produced a fascinating Extended Project on The History of the Golden Ratio and its possible influence on architecture, both ancient and modern. Holly was an exceptionally hard-working and thorough student, even making the time for an evening class in Sign Language. Holly achieved an A* in Mathematics and a B in Further Mathematics and is now studying for a Mathematics Degree at Cardiff University.” Please join us in congratulating Holly on this fantastic achievement!
